What is a Home Warranty?

A home warranty is a one-year service agreement that helps with the cost to repair or replace covered home system components and appliances when they inevitably break down due to normal wear and tear. When you request service, you'll pay a Trade Service Call Fee to initiate the service request. A licensed, independent contractor will schedule an appointment with you to determine the issue. If the problem is covered by your home warranty, HMA will direct the contractor will to repair or replace your covered item subject to the limitations and exclusions of the home warranty..

Homeowners insurance typically protects your home from things that might happen, like fires, theft or natural disasters. A home warranty helps protect your budget when covered components of home systems and appliances break down due to normal wear and tear.

Our flexible plans cover components of up to 10 of the essential home systems and appliances you depend on every day, from your stove to your refrigerator to your geyser.

What is a Trade Service Call

With HMA, you pay a pre-set fee (which you'll choose when you purchase your home warranty) for the service requests you make under your warranty.

You'll pay one fee for each different kind of trade professional contractor (plumber, electrician, etc.) that comes to your home to provide service. When both your toilet and your fridge break down, two kinds of trade workers need to come out to fix your problem ‐ If your washing machine of fridge break down, only one trade service professional will come out and you'll only pay one fee.

My home appliances are old. Will HMA cover them?

We cover appliances of any age or make.


When can I start using my plan?

The waiting period for our warranty plan is 90 days from when you first sign up with HMA Uplus, to cover your appliances.


Can I choose my own contractor?

Generally we like to make use of our specially chosen repair technicians, our technicians are qualified and trustworthy and d try to work on site wherever possible. If you would like to use your own technician, you word first need authorisation from HMA. you would then pay the technician, we would then reimburse you for the work done.


How does a home warranty work?

  1. When a covered item breaks down, request service by calling 0877018280 or mailing us hmass@mweb.co.za

  2. Pay your callout fee of R220

  3. Our technician would then schedule the best time to do the appliance repair.

  4. Our technician will diagnose the appliance repair.

  5. After our appliance repair technicians assessment, we will then move ahead with the appliance repair subject to the terms and conditions of the contract

  6. The appliance repair will be concluded as efficiently as possible.


Do my home appliances need to be inspected before I am covered?

No, your appliances do not need to be inspected before you are covered by HMA.


Are there any exclusions?

Yes. there are various exclusions these are listed in our wording, we do not cover acts of God, theft, accidental damage and neglect. We cover the mechanical breakdown of your appliances. We are not an insurance company.

How long does my contract last?

The standard home warranty contract is 12 months/until cancelled/unpaid

Is there a limit to the number of repairs during my contract term?

There are no limits as to how many times you can request a repair that is why HMA is here, we are here to assist you the client. You cannot control whether your appliance will will break or how many appliance will break in a single week month or year!

How does HMA determine or evaluate the outcome of a repair?

Firstly the appliance repair technician will assess the appliance from their, HMA will decide whether the damage falls within the terms and conditions of the contract.

Also please note that the call out fee is paid for buy the customer upfront, we then pay for labour and parts. The call out fee does not form part of the coverage.


How long does an appliance repair take?

How long is a piece of string they say? Well what we can promise is that we will try and conclude the repair as quickly as possible. Sometimes there are delays in parts this is generally the only hold up in the appliance repairs game.

Who are the technicians that will be sent to my home?

Our technicians are the best in the business, we only use the appliance repair technicians with the right experience and customer skills. To ensure that all are customers are left with a smile on their dial.

Is the work guaranteed?

All of our appliance repairs are guaranteed, we offer a 6 month guarantee on the specific appliance repair that is carried out if you do have an issue with any appliance repair that has been carried out. You would need to pay an extra callout fee to diagnose and assess the issue.


What if HMA cannot repair the item.?

Generally we can repair most appliances but sometimes it is not worth it or their are no parts in this case we will make a cash offer to the used value of the appliance but not above the limitations and cover amount set in the contract.

Are there any upfront costs when requesting an appliance repair?

Yes, the only cost is the callout fee of R220.

Are there any unexpected costs?

Generally no, we have designed this product to assist the homeowner. The appliance repairs are subject to the repair contract. Please see terms. The client will be responsible for any costs not covered.

What about the manufacturers guarantee?

The manufacturers Guarantee only lasts a couple of years, then becomes null and void. The manufacturers warranty will also only cover one appliance and will only cover the cost of the part. We cover appliances of any age and cover the part as well as the labour.

Can I cancel?

Yes, you can cancel at any time/after 12months/ or if unpaid.
